About Astrid

I am Astrid, founder of Atelier Wander. And I'm back.

Over 25 years ago, I encountered a creative burnout during my art education. Overnight I put the paint and brushes in the cupboard. My easel went to my mother. Who, by the way, has made fantastic art on it. I started a career in business myself.

However, the fact that this site exists, obviously means that the story doesn't end there. All this time I thought my creativity was extinguished. It turned out that it had only been put on a pilot light. When I picked up the brush, spatula and everything else that could be used to make art, the fire flared up again. It has now grown into a campfire full of creativity. And I now have a healthy urgency to keep it going.

My creative block is reflected in my works. They are all about feeling freely and acting without judgement. Exactly how I think making art should be.

I hope you enjoy what you see here. Are you interested in an original work, or a fine-art print? Please contact us to discuss the possibilities.

Wolvenplein

Starting 2024, Atelier Wander has had a atelier in Wolvenplein. Until 2014, this unique location was used as a prison. However these days, the cells are rented out separately to creative entrepreneurs. In this way, a place that was once a symbol of captivity has now become a place where people feel free to explore.

Utrechts Kunstcollectief (UKC)

Since 2024, I have been a co-founder and member of the Utrecht Art Collective.
Within the collective, we challenge each other creatively and support each other professionally, of course without compromising each other’s unique artistic style.
